The video is basically me looking through a giant C14 HD edge telescope on the few nights that were good last year… and I have to say it was pretty awesome. I got to see Mons Rumker – a volcano on the moon, Ganymede, the best view of Mars I’d ever seen AND Mars being occulted by the moon which was awesome despite being at 4am!

These 9am premiers are designed to sort out the nerds from the boys. In all honesty this isn’t one of my epic videos so you are entirely forgiven for not being at the premier, however I think you should try and watch it at some point over the weekend, much love biscuit.

PS I hired the scope from Alex and he is now selling it with extras for less that half price. I’d buy it if I had the doolally.

Below are some of the images I took with the scope. I almost entirely used the zwo asi585mc camera.

mars with clouds visible
I was pretty lucky with the seeing when I shot Mars… (easily my best f the red planet)
cu crater on the moon
The weird line in this crater looks like the shadow from an invisible telegraph pole!
Mars occultation
The occultation was at 4am – I have to say my youtubing powers are weak at that time in the morning and I only managed to grunt toi the camera.
jupiter.
This shot of Jupiter isn’t particularly great – I blame the atmosphere. BTW the red spot is orange not red because I was using a camera (zwo asi585mc ) whose red, green and blue channels are all sensitive to IR. I didn’t block the IR bc that wavelengths wobbles less in the wobbly atmosphere
